I'm engaged!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the best Christmas/Birthday ever.  It was very stressful since we moved into our new house 2 days before Christmas and we had 7 people here for Christmas dinner.  That doesn't sound bad, but considering we didn't have a working stove it was frustrating.  We ended up grilling dinner, which turned out really well.  My birthday (the day after Christmas) was stressful returning the non-working stove and finding a new one, all while trying to figure out dinner for 6 and shuffling the baby.  None of that mattered that night though because Dale asked me to marry him :)  He even designed the ring himself and one of the diamonds is from his mom's original wedding ring.  I wasn't expecting it at all!!

I am now scouring patterns because I want to knit/crochet my wedding dress.  I don't know when the date is yet but I know we will be having a destination wedding in a tropical place....I can't wait :)'

The House Cup also starts in a few days so I am really excited about that too!

I am just ecstatic :)

China Yarn

I'm really excited because I finally used some of the yarn that I bought in China.  I made Foliage with some orange fingering weight yarn and I am making my Subway Mittens with the yarn held double to match the hat.  I'm glad that xmas is almost here and that I'm almost finished with xmas gifts because then I can start on some bigger projects for myself...you know, like sweaters :)  Sad thing is I will have all these nice warm sweaters finished just in time for summer, haha.

Anyway, I am at work today, bleh.  I hate working Saturday's.  At least it has been pretty good today and time is flying by, only 2 1/2 hours left.  I hope to make some more progress on some knitting projects tonight.  Signups started for the second term of HPKCHC so I'm really excited for January :)  Hopefully I can get my queue cleaned out a bit.  Signups are open right now for any Harry Potter fans that are interested.  Just follow the link and tell them that stacymarie sent you :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Well, December is here...this year went by way too fast.  So much has happened since this time last year.  It looks like we will be moving on Dec. 20th, as long as the sellers of the house cooperate.  I'm really excited because I will have my own craft room, which was all Dale's idea by the way :)

Looking back it is amazing to see how my knitting skills have improved over the year.  It has only been a little over a year since I taught myself to knit and now I am going crazy with it!!  I am having so much fun though and I am so thankful for Ravelry.  I have met so many great people and I have learned so much.  I've also made more projects in the past year than I had my entire life before :)  Thankfully Dale is very supportive of my crafting obsession and is also interested.  Out of the blue he will surprise me by saying some like "oh, your making a rib by knitting and purling."  It is awesome because he actually listens and is interested...I've never had a boyfriend that actually paid attention before :)

I finally started the second of my mom's mittens.  I'm over halfway done with the first and hope to be about that far on the second by the end of today.  I really love Eskimo by Garnstudio.  I will have to find a project for myself to use it on :)  I really like this mitten pattern too and I would like to make some for myself at some point.  I will finish mom's mittens in time for xmas and give her those and the headband made from Alaska by Garnstudio.  I like the Alaska as well but it is more scratchy than the Eskimo.

Also for xmas gifts I am making 2 neckwarmers, one using the pattern Envy and the other is a Herringbone Neckwarmer.  For Envy I am using Araucania Azapa yarn.  This is the softest yarn!!  I love it.  It is pricey but not too bad when only making a neckwarmer.  The pattern calls for super bulky yarn and the Azapa is a bulky weight so I altered the pattern a bit, I added 2 stitches to each cable and 2 sts to the seed stitch middle, it will also have to be longer.  I am using smaller needles as well.  For the Herringbone Neckwarmer I am using Malabrigo Merino Worsted.  I have never use this yarn before but I have seen that many people have, it is also a bit pricey but worth it.  Now I just have to find buttons for the Herringbone one, it is impossible to find good buttons around here.  I will have to search Etsy.

I did by 2 skeins of Azapa for myself too, in pink of course :)  I haven't decided what to make with it yet but I loved the yarn so much that I had to have some.

I'm also make the Cable Vest by Twinkle (Wenlan Chia).  I really hope I like it.  As I can't afford to buy any nice yarn for myself now I am using 3 strands of Red Heart in a soft white color.  I am half way done with the cable band and it is really cool.  I really hope I like the finished product.  I think I'm going to change the back to a stockinette back instead of seed stitch though.  I have been doing a lot of seed stitch lately and I don't know if I really want to do that much more of it.

Reducio Sock Swap was awesome.  I sent my package out, it hasn't been received yet but it should be there soon.  I received my package and I love it.  I can't wait until the next one starts :)  I'm also excited for the next term of the Harry Potter Knitting and Crochet House Cup.  I'm glad we took December off but it was a lot of fun.  Not like I get December off, with all the xmas gifts I am making, plus the ornament swap :)

Alright, that's enough for now, but I will try to update more often (we'll see).

So, I have so many projects that I'm working on, that I want to work on, and that I need to work on.

I finished the Young Helena Hood for the Ravenclaw quidditch team and sent it off to the seeker.  It was a bit sad to see it go because I worked hard on it and learned so many new techniques by doing it.  Gazebogal is definitely a talented designer and I would love to test knit for her again.

I knit my first ever sock!!!  I am so excited, it is just a mini one but I bought a mini sock blocker key chain and I attached it to my purse.  I have been showing everyone that will look :)  I can't wait to make more, I plan to have a stash of them so I can switch it up on my keychain depending on my mood...haha.

I wore my Luna Cardi to work for the first time today.  I was a bit nervous because the sleeves stick out a bit but my coworker said it was cute and feminine.  I got a lot of compliments so I was pretty happy.

As for this month I have a lot to do:  I have to make my mom's mittens, finish my capricorn amigurumi guy for astronomy, make a poinsettia for herbology, at least 4 bookscarves for potions, steek a sweater and make something out of it for transfiguration, my dragon filet afghan for HHH, a xmas themed filet for the Monthly CAL, and all the other things I keep thinking up :)  I just finished charms tonight, the baby cardigan for Andy and Suzanne's baby that is due in January.

And last but definitely not least, Reducio Sock Swap will be starting soon :)  I'm excited, I have a great idea for a mini project, I just hope it works out :)

Busy, busy, busy

I have so much to do this November.  I still have to make my mom's mittens and finish her afghan, I have a baby hat to finish for a friend, Helena's hood for the quidditch team, my classes for HPKCHC, a filet crochet dragon for Harry's Happy Hookers, and I signed up for Reducio Sock swap

I have never knit socks before but I just bought some yarn and needles and hopefully will be starting soon.  I am going to do Monkey by Cookie A. for my first pair, but I will be doing them on two circs instead of dpns.  I hope I can use them for one of my November classes.  I'm really excited, the yarn I bought is Opal Magic in a teal color and it reminds me of both Luna and Fluer :)  I was looking online to find the Opal Harry Potter yarns but they are too expensive for me and I wasn't crazy about any of the colors except for Ron.

I am also in the process of creating a few patterns.  I want to try double knitting so I am going to make my puppy a blanket for her kennel with a bone on it and I am going to crochet around the edge.  I graphed out the bone, now I just have to find time and learn how to double knit.

I also have a few Harry Potter themed ideas I'm working on, unfortunately they are all knit and I need to come up with a crochet Harry Potter pattern and have it test crocheted.  I'm participating in a fun contest through Harry's Happy Hookers.  Anyone is welcome to participate and it should be a lot of fun.  Check out the link if you are interested.

Okay, I need to finish my Astronomy homework before Dale gets home.

Almost November

I can't believe it is almost November already!!  The time has been flying by.  I have been very busy working on my "homework" for the Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup.  I'm having a lot of fun and I'm really glad that we are going to be doing another term.

Right now I have far too many WIPs but I can't help starting new projects :)  I really have to get going on Mom's mittens.  I think the stockings are going to end up being a project for next Christmas.  Layton isn't old enough yet to know the difference anyway and I want to make sure to get gifts done versus stockings.  Oh well, now I will have a project for next year, not like I don't have plenty already :)

I finished my Luna Cardi yesterday and I really love it.  I wish the sleeves weren't quite as stiff but I'm sure they will soften up the more I wear it.  I would like to make another one in a different color and this time make it a bit bigger to look more like the movie version.  The whole thing only took me 3 days to make and it was very easy.

I can't wait to find out what classes are for next month.  I have to remember to keep an open mind because I was not happy when I found out the classes for this month, and it turns out I have had tons of fun and my favorite project (Luna Cardi) is for the class that I was least excited for, go figure.

It is really starting to get cold here.  It has been freezing overnight and there has been frost on the cars.  It's a good thing I can make my own hats, mittens, and scarves.  I would love to start socks too, just one more thing to add to the list :)

Wisdom Teeth

I got my wisdom teeth surgically removed yesterday morning.  That means that I have been on the couch for the past day and a half :)  Luckily I can still crochet and knit so I was able to finish my Pineapple Skirt and start on my Broomstick Lace Scarf.  Unfortunately all I have eaten for the past two days is jello and pudding.  I'm eating ice cream right now though :)  I am still on my diet but I figured under the circumstances I don't really care.  Other than that I have been playing sudoku puzzles.

I'm really excited because I finally set all my scrapbooking stuff up so that I can start making Christmas cards and working on some scrapbooks I just hadn't had time to start.  I'm going to make time now :)

Still with it

I'm still on my diet.  I'm pretty excited that I've stuck with it this long.  I'm now down 10 pounds and can wear two pairs of work pants that I haven't been able to wear in a long time.  My jeans are starting to fit again too.  I joined Anytime Fitness and I started training for the half-marathon next July.  I would like to be able to run the whole thing all the way through, we'll see how that goes :)

I have been very busy working on my knit and crocheted projects.  I have 2 of the 5 done.  I am also trying to work on Christmas presents for this year.  Next month I'm going to start our stockings.

My goal

Yesterday I posted about my weight loss efforts.  I am going to keep track of it here.  My goal is to lose 21 pounds.  I don't have a time frame, but I would definitely prefer it to be before xmas.  So far I am down 4 pounds :)  I just went grocery shopping today and spent $70 so I really need to stick to the plan.  Wish me luck :)
